Iranian pop singer Morteza Pashaei loses battle against cancer

There is a bad news for Persian music lovers across the world. The famous Iranian pop singer and music composer, Morteza Pashaei has passed away at the age of 30.

Pashaei, who was battling stomach cancer for past one year, passed away on Friday in Bahman Hospital, Tehran.

The news about his stomach cancer was announced by Iranian media in September 2013. His relatives denied the news but his official website said his concerts have been postponed due to his illness.

A month later, he appeared before media and disclosed the news about his illness. Around the same time, he underwent a major surgical procedure.

On November 3, 2014, Pashaei was admitted to Tehran’s Bahman Hospital.

Born on August 13, 1984 in Tehran, he developed interest in music at a young age. Pashaei  started playing guitar at the age of 14 and took professional training in composing music.

He graduated in graphic art from Islamic Azad University in 2008.

According to Iranian media, he will be buried at Behesht e Zehra cemetery in south Tehran.

Among his popular songs include Yeki Hast (There's someone) and Esme Eshqe (The name of love), which won him millions of fans across the world.
