At least 41 insurgents killed in various military operations over the past 24 hours: MoD

At least 41 insurgents were killed and 32 others wounded in various military operations across the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement on Monday.

The military operations were conducted in Ghazni, Paktika, Paktia, Jawzjan, Khost, Uruzgan, Daikundi, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Kunduz, Balkh, Zabul, Badghis, Farah, and Helmand provinces.

At least six suspected insurgents were also arrested in these operations and a large assortment of arms and ammunition was seized from their possession.

The statement further said that at least five soldiers were also killed in various incidents of violence over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, four civilians were killed in a landmine explosion in Burka district of northern Baghlan province late on Sunday.

According to Abdul Jabar Islami, governor of Burka district, the attack was targeted against the district governor and district police chief.

In Yamgan district of northern Badakshan province, airstrikes against insurgents are going on.

Insurgents continue to occupydistrict police headquarters, district governor’s office and several other government buildings in the district.

In Dara e Sufi Payan district of northern Samangan province, insurgents have reportedly established illegal checkpoints and are stopping vehicles and robbing the passengers of their valuables.
