At least three civilians and three policemen, including the chief criminal investigation officer for the district, were killed in a powerful explosion in Paghman district of Kabul on Wednesday.
The incident took place at around 11 am local time when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into the district police headquarters.
Ebadullah Karimi, a spokesman for Kabul police, confirmed the incident and said the casualty toll is likely to mount.
At least 27 others, including many civilians, were injured in the incident, according to reports. Injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
According to reports, a rocket also landed near a girls’ school in Paghman, damaging the school compound and injuring many students.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility of the suicide attack and said dozens of police personnel were killed in the attack.
